Constructive honesty, crafted for comfort.
The Palma armchair, designed by Marc Morro as a tribute to his hometown of Palma de Mallorca, is an exercise in constructive honesty and the humility of an object that carries its roots into the world. Sancal has revived this model from the designer's personal archive, evolving it into a comfortable piece while preserving its original raw spirit, beautifully softened by a friendlier design language. The armchair's architecture is defined by a tubular metal structure supporting the curved plywood slats of the seat and backrest, with warm, solid ash armrests providing an organic counterpoint to its structural force.
For enhanced comfort, Palma offers an optional cushion that integrates discreetly between the slats, ensuring the unique constructive nakedness of the entire concept remains fully visible. Additionally, the armchair can be highly customized, as both the metal and wooden components can be colored using Sancal's extensive palette. This chromatic freedom amplifies the piece's expressiveness, allowing it to move effortlessly from a sober character toward fresh, spontaneous, and contemporary interpretations.
